In Honor of World Wish Day!

Staying connected to our community means supporting the local organizations that give back to it. With this in mind, Solidus is proud to announce that we’ve recently entered a partnership with Make-A-Wish Connecticut!

The Make-A-Wish Foundation has chapters all over the world and its mission is to bring hope, joy, and perseverance to children struggling with critical diagnosis or illnesses. By leveraging our connections in the banking industry we hope to bring awareness to this incredible organization and increase their exposure in Hartford County.

Granting wishes began forty-five years ago when a group of officers from the Phoenix Police Department heard of a little boy’s dream of becoming a police officer. The little boy, Chris Greicius, was diagnosed with stage four leukemia. Members of the police department worked together to commission a uniform, organize a helicopter ride, and put him through the necessary exams to earn his badge. The officers came to his hospital ward to present Chris with his badge and uniform.

That first wish in 1980 led to the establishment of the Make-A-Wish Foundation and more than 615,000 wishes being granted worldwide. Granted wishes bring hope to children, their families, and their communities. Research shows that a wish can give kids the strength to fight against and even overcome critical illness.

Tuesday April 29th is World Wish Day and to celebrate the occasion a team of Solidus volunteers will be participating in a special Make-A-Wish event at the Hartford Yard Goats Dunkin Donuts Park. The game starts at 7 PM and we encourage you to stop by one of their information booths to learn how you can get involved with this special organization.
