Spotlight on Newtown Savings Bank
Testimonial
"Solidus is both professional and accommodating. I've worked with general contractors in the past and, in some cases, I've had to become much more involved in projects than I would have liked. With Solidus, decisions are turned around quickly and we always get the project done within a tight timeframe."
- John Trentacosta, President, Newtown Savings Bank
Challenges
- Convert an old Boston Market restaurant into a "signature" Newtown Savings Bank branch
- Meet a very aggressive timeline and tight budget
- Employ millwork with several unique features, making production difficult
- Utilize specialty materials with very long lead times for ordering and manufacture
- Create an isolated "off-hour" conference room for public facilities usage while keeping security at a premium
The Solidus Approach
- Adjusted project schedule daily
- Bypassed subcontractor and contacted suppliers directly to monitor shipment of long-lead items
- Installed a circular glass focal wall at the entrance that proudly displayed the bank's mission statement
- Scheduled meetings with design team and millwork subcontractors to expedite shop drawings and ensure that the focal wall would satisfy the client's expectations
- Anticipated problems and made changes with lighting layout and ceiling finishes, while keeping the final move date on schedule
- Fine-tuned new signature branch details and finishes during construction to achieve client satisfaction
- Created three customer interaction areas in the interior, including a traditional teller line, tech center and private banking meeting area
Results
- The completed project set a new construction brand standard for Newtown Savings Bank, and the details and finishes Solidus established will be carried throughout the bank branch system
